When you follow your child, you probably want to know about every goal they score. When you follow a whole tournament, you may only want the results. The ๐Ÿ”” next to โœ“ Following lets you choose, separately for each player, team and tournament you follow.

Before you start

  • You need to be signed in to follow anything.
  • When you first follow something, every alert is on. You only need the bell to turn some off.
  • Alerts need notifications to be allowed for SportnNote. See "Getting alerts on your phone" below.

Step by step

  1. Open a player, team or tournament.
  2. Tap + Follow player, + Follow team or + Follow tournament. The button changes to โœ“ Following, and a ๐Ÿ”” appears next to it.
  3. Tap the ๐Ÿ””. A sheet called "Which alerts?" opens.
  4. Untick what you don't need. Tick it again to turn it back on. Turn all off and Turn all on switch everything at once.
  5. Tap Save.

The bell shows your choice at a glance:

  • ๐Ÿ”” means every alert is on.
  • ๐Ÿ”” with a small dot means some alerts are off.
  • ๐Ÿ”• means all alerts are off.

What each switch does

For a player you follow

  • Before they play: a reminder before their match, at your own reminder times. The app says "At your reminder times (Settings โ†’ Match reminders)". You set those times under Settings โ†’ Match reminders (by default a day, an hour and 15 minutes before).
  • Match starts: when their match goes live.
  • Result: who won, when the match ends.
  • Goals, wickets & big moments: each time they score, in any sport.

For a team you follow

  • Match starts: when the team's match goes live.
  • Result: who won, when the match ends.

For a tournament you follow

  • Match starts: when any match in it goes live.
  • Result: who won, for every match in it.

If you untick everything, the sheet says you'll get nothing for them. They stay in your feed until you unfollow. To unfollow, tap โœ“ Following.

See everything you follow

  1. Go to Profile and tap Settings.
  2. Tap Following.
  3. Each player, team and tournament has its own ๐Ÿ””, so you can change alerts from one place.

Settings โ†’ Match reminders also has a card, โญ Alerts for things you follow, with an Open Following button.

Getting alerts on your phone

  • Android app: allow notifications for SportnNote when asked. If you said no, turn them on in your phone's Settings โ†’ Apps โ†’ SportnNote โ†’ Notifications.
  • Web app (app.sportnnote.in): open Settings โ†’ Match reminders and tap Turn on notifications, then allow them in the browser.
  • iPhone: alerts from the web app only work once SportnNote is on your Home Screen. In Safari, tap Share โ†’ "Add to Home Screen", open SportnNote from the new icon, then tap Turn on notifications.

Common questions

Will a corrected score send me the alert again?

Usually not. After full time, an alert only goes out when a player's score goes up. Removing a goal that never happened sends nothing. If a goal is moved to the right player, that player's followers may get an alert for it.

I follow a team and a player in it. Will I get two alerts?

You may get one for the team and one for the player, because they're separate follows. Turn off Match starts or Result on one of them if that's too many.

Where do I set my own match reminder times?

Under Settings โ†’ Match reminders, in the ๐Ÿ”” Reminder timers card. The same times are used for matches you play or score in, and for players you follow.
