Publish tournament awards and change Player of the Match
Pick tournament award winners from suggested stats, add your own awards, publish and share them, and change a match's Player of the Match once.
On this page
At the closing ceremony, you need to name a Player of the Tournament, a top scorer and a best bowler. The Awards tab suggests winners from the stats already recorded. You change any you disagree with, add your own awards, and publish. The winners get an alert, and everyone can see and share the list.
Before you start
- You must be a host of the tournament to prepare and publish awards.
- Suggestions come from player stats, so matches need to have been scored with players picked for each goal, run or point.
- Before you publish, only hosts see the Awards tab. After publishing, everyone sees it.
Step by step: prepare and publish awards
- Open the tournament → Awards tab.
- In a multi-sport meet, pick the sport at the top. Each sport has its own awards.
- Each award card shows a suggested winner marked Auto-suggested. The first card is always Player of the Tournament. Other cards depend on the sport, for example Best batter and Best bowler in cricket.
- To pick someone else, tap Change on the card. Tap a player in the list, or search by name or team. To see how the suggestion was worked out, tap How is this ranked?.
- To leave an award empty, tap its ✕. To fill an empty one, tap Pick.
- To add your own award, tap + Custom award. Type an Award name, or tap a suggestion such as Best fielder, Emerging player or Fair play. Then tap Choose player.
- When you're happy, tap Publish awards, then Publish to confirm.
Each winner gets an alert, "You won" plus the award name. The Awards tab now shows the winners to everyone.
Step by step: share the awards
- Open the Awards tab after publishing.
- Tap 📤 Share awards to send the list on WhatsApp or anywhere else.
Step by step: edit published awards
- On the Awards tab, tap ✏️ Edit awards.
- Change, clear or add awards as before.
- Tap Update awards, then Update. Anyone newly named gets an alert.
How suggestions are worked out
- Player of the Tournament adds up a points score across every match in the tournament. The score weights the sport's important stats, such as goals, runs, wickets and catches.
- Other awards use the total of one stat, such as runs or wickets, across the tournament.
- If players are tied, the list goes by name. You always choose the final winner.
Change Player of the Match (once)
After each match, SportnNote suggests a Player of the Match from the stats. If the umpires or officials choose someone else, a scorer or host can change it, but only once.
- Open the finished match → Summary tab.
- Tap Change Player of the Match.
- Pick the officials' choice from either team.
- Confirm with Change. The message shows who it's changing from and to.
After that, the button disappears for everyone.
Common questions
The Awards tab says suggestions will appear once matches have player stats. Why?
No player stats have been recorded yet, usually because matches were scored without choosing who scored. Award cards fill in as stats come in. You can still add custom awards once any player has stats.
Can I give an award to someone with no stats?
Custom awards are chosen from players who have stats in this tournament.
Does correcting a match change the Player of the Match?
A correction can change the suggestion. It never replaces a Player of the Match that a scorer picked by hand. See Correct a finished match.
Can parents see draft awards?
No. Until you publish, the Awards tab is only visible to hosts.
