Record every kind of dismissal
Bowled to Mankad: how to record each way out, including retired out, hit twice, obstructing, stumped off a wide, run-outs off byes, and changing the keeper.
On this page
Most wickets are bowled or caught, but sooner or later you'll see a Mankad, a stumping off a wide, or a run-out after byes. If any of these is recorded the wrong way, the batter, bowler and fielder all get the wrong figures. The wicket panel walks you through each kind one tap at a time. It shows the dismissal as it will read on the scorecard, for example "c Arjun b Kabir", before you confirm.
Before you start
- You can score the match (a listed scorer, or a host of the match or its tournament), on the Scoring tab.
- Each side has a wicket-keeper (†) picked in the match setup. Stumpings are credited to the keeper.
Step by step: a normal wicket
- Tap WICKET.
- Tap how they were out: Bowled, Caught, LBW, Run out, Stumped or Hit wicket. Tap More ▾ for the rarer kinds.
- For Caught, pick the fielder under "Caught by?". The keeper is listed first. If the bowler took it, pick the bowler and it reads "c & b".
- Under "Next batsman in", tap the new batter. On the last wicket you'll see Confirm wicket — all out instead.
After a wicket the new batter takes the end the out batter left, and the panel tells you who faces next, for example "Next ball: Dev faces". If it's wrong, tap ⇄ Swap.
Step by step: a run out
- Tap WICKET, then Run out.
- Under "Runs were", choose how the completed runs are scored: Off the bat, Byes, Leg byes, Wide or No ball.
- Under "Runs completed before the run out?", tap 0 to 3, or type a bigger number.
- Pick the fielder under "Run out by? (fielder)".
- Pick a "2nd fielder (optional)", for example the keeper who broke the stumps, or tap Skip.
- Tap which batter is out. The non-striker is marked "(NS)".
- Under "Wicket broken at", tap Striker's end or Bowler's end. This decides where the new batter goes, so who faces next is right.
- Pick the next batter.
Runs off the bat go to the striker. Byes and leg byes go to extras, and the striker gets the ball faced but no runs. The run-out counts for the first fielder only. The second fielder appears in the scorecard text, for example "run out (Veer/Dev)".
The rarer dismissals
Tap More ▾ in the wicket panel to see these. The panel explains each one in a short line.
- Obstructing: either batter, and it includes handling the ball. Completed runs count. Not the bowler's wicket.
- Hit twice: striker only. Not the bowler's wicket. Tap Off a no-ball if it happened on a no-ball.
- Mankad: the bowler ran out the non-striker for leaving the crease early. The app picks the non-striker for you. It is a wicket, but not a ball and not the bowler's wicket. The scorecard shows "run out (bowler's name)" and the bowler gets a run-out. This follows the 2022 Laws, which made it a normal run out.
- Retired hurt: not a wicket. The batter can come back later: they stay in the "Next batsman in" list.
- Retired out: the batter left without the umpire's permission. It is a wicket, no ball is bowled, and they can't bat again.
- Timed out: the incoming batter wasn't ready to face within the time limit (3 minutes under the Laws, 2 in some competitions). A wicket, with no ball bowled, and not the bowler's wicket.
Wickets off a wide or a no-ball
- Stumped or hit wicket off a wide: tap Stumped or Hit wicket, then Off a wide. The team gets the wide runs, the ball doesn't count, and the bowler still gets the wicket.
- Run out or obstructing off a wide or no-ball: tap Wide or No ball, then 🎯 …or a WICKET off the wide (or off the no-ball). You can also choose Wide or No ball under "Runs were" in a run out.
Changing the wicket-keeper
If the keeper changes during the match, update it so stumpings go to the right player.
- On the Scoring tab, tap ☰ Quick options.
- Tap the Change keeper tile. It shows who is keeping now.
- Tap the new keeper. You'll see "Ravi is now keeping", and a NEW KEEPER line appears in the timeline.

Common questions
I picked the wrong dismissal. What now?
If it was the last ball, tap ↶ Undo and enter it again. If more balls have been bowled since, use ✎ Edit a past ball to change the out type or fielder. See Fix a past ball.
Why didn't the bowler get the wicket for a run out?
Run outs, obstructing, hit twice, Mankads, retirements and timed out are never the bowler's wicket. That is the Laws of Cricket, and it keeps bowling figures honest.
