Score 5s, 7s, overthrows and extras
Enter an all-run four, a 5 or a 7, runs plus overthrows, and wides, no-balls, byes and leg byes with extra runs, so your card matches the paper book.

On school grounds the ball doesn't always reach the rope. Batters run four on a big outfield, a wild throw gives away 4 more, or a wide beats the keeper and they run two. Each of these is scored differently in the book. The run pad gives you one tap for the common runs and a small panel for the rare ones, and it tells you how each one is credited.
Before you start
- You can score the match (a listed scorer, or a host of the match or its tournament), on the Scoring tab.
- A striker, non-striker and bowler are picked.
- If the match uses local rules (for example, a wide worth 2), set them first. See Set local rules.
Runs off the bat
- Tap 0, 1, 2, 3, 4 or 6. The 4 and 6 keys are boundaries: they count in the batter's 4s and 6s.
- Odd runs swap strike for you. If the batters end up the other way round, tap ⇄ Swap.
Step by step: an all-run 4, a 5 or a 7
- Tap the last key on the run pad, 5·7·+.
- Under "All run — not a boundary", tap 4 runs, 5 runs or 7 runs.
- For anything else, type the number under "Any other number" and tap Add.
An all-run 4 shows as "4r" in the over strip and doesn't count as a four for the batter.
Step by step: runs plus overthrows
- Tap 5·7·+.
- Under "Overthrows", tap how many runs the batters had completed next to Ran (0 to 3).
- Tap the overthrows next to Overthrows: 1, 2, 3, or 4 (boundary) if the throw went to the rope.
- Check the line that appears, for example "= 5 to Ravi · not a four".
- Tap Add 5 runs.
So 1 run plus 4 overthrows is 5 runs to the batter, not a four. This follows the Laws: overthrows that reach the boundary add 4 runs, but they are never a boundary hit by the batter. The over strip shows "5ot".
Byes and leg byes
- Tap Bye or Leg bye.
- Tap B 1 to B 5 (or LB 1 to LB 5). For more, type the number and tap the Add button.
Byes and leg byes are team extras. They count as a ball faced by the striker, but they aren't the batter's runs and aren't charged to the bowler.
Wides
- Tap Wide.
- Tap Wd for a plain wide, or the runs the batters ran (or 4 if it beat the keeper to the rope). The button shows the total, for example Wd+2 (=3).
- For a bigger number, type it and tap the add button.
A wide isn't a legal ball unless your local rules say so, and all its runs are wides charged to the bowler.
No-balls
- Tap No ball.
- If the batter hit it, tap the runs off the bat: Nb for none, or +1 to +6. A +4 or +6 counts as a boundary. For an all-run 4 off a no-ball, type 4 in the box below and tap Add Nb+4.
- If the ball missed the bat and they ran, tap Byes or Leg byes (if leg byes are allowed), then Nb+1b to Nb+5b (or Nb+1lb to Nb+5lb for leg byes) instead.
Runs off the bat on a no-ball are the batter's runs, and the batter is credited with a ball faced. The no-ball penalty is an extra charged to the bowler. Byes or leg byes off a no-ball are team extras, not charged to the bowler, and the scorecard lists them under b or lb. If free hits are on, the next ball shows a FREE HIT banner.
Common questions
Why does my 4 show as "4r" in the over?
It was entered as an all-run 4 from the 5·7·+ panel, so it isn't a boundary. If it was really a boundary, tap ↶ Undo and tap the 4 key instead.
Is there a limit on runs per ball?
The typed fields accept up to 99, as a guard against typos.
I entered the wrong runs three overs ago. Do I have to undo everything?
No. Use ✎ Edit a past ball. See Fix a past ball, bowler or batter.
Where do penalty runs go?
They have their own button, ⚖️ Penalty. See Add penalty, bonus and minus runs.
