  9. Common questions

During play, a scorer needs a few things fast: pause for drinks or rain, bring on a late player, check the full scorecard. Before and after play, organisers sometimes need to set up a rematch or get rid of a test match. This guide covers all of these housekeeping jobs.

Before you start

  • Quick options are for the match's scorers and hosts, once the match has started.
  • Clone match is for hosts and scorers.
  • Deleting and resetting a match are for hosts of the match or tournament only.

Start scoring from the match card

If you're a scorer or a host of the match, its card in your Matches list shows ▶ Start scoring (or ▶ Continue scoring once the match is live). Tap it to go straight to the scoring buttons.

When you tap ▶ Start the match and the two squads look uneven, the app asks "Squads look uneven … Start anyway?". Tap Fix squads to sort them out, or Start anyway if it's deliberate.

Step by step: open Quick options

  1. Open the match → Scoring tab.
  2. Tap ☰ Quick options below the scoring buttons.
  3. Pick a tile from the list below.

The tiles are:

  • Match break: drinks, rain, stumps and more
  • Change squad: add or bench players for either team
  • Change scorer: opens the Info tab with scorers and officials
  • Full scorecard: see the whole card
  • Match settings: local rules for this match only, when the sport has them. For cricket, see Cricket local rules.
  • Change keeper: cricket only. See Cricket dismissals.

Step by step: pause for a break

  1. ☰ Quick options → Match break.
  2. Pick the kind: Drinks, Rain, Interval, Bad light, Injury, Stumps or Other. For Other, type what the break is, for example "Power cut".
  3. Tap ⏸ Start break.

Everyone watching sees a banner such as "⏸ Rain break · since 4:30 pm", and the match card shows ⏸ BREAK instead of LIVE. Nothing is added to the score, so ↶ Undo isn't affected.

When play restarts, tap ▶ Resume play on the Scoring tab.

Step by step: change a squad during the match

  1. ☰ Quick options → Change squad.
  2. Tap the team.
  3. Add a player or move someone to the bench, then save.

Step by step: clone a match

Use this for a rematch, or the second leg of a tie.

  1. Open the match → Info tab.
  2. Tap Clone match ("Same teams, squads & rules").
  3. The Clone match screen opens with the same teams, squads, venue and rules filled in. Check the details. The toss is done again.
  4. Tap the button at the bottom to create the match.

Step by step: undo a start by mistake (scorers)

If you started the match by mistake:

  • With nothing scored yet, tap ↺ Not started? Cancel on the Scoring tab.
  • In the first 5 minutes after the first score, tap ↺ Restart match, then Yes, restart. This clears everything recorded so far.

Step by step: delete or reset a match (hosts)

  1. Open the match → Info tab and scroll to the bottom.
  2. In the Danger zone, tap 🗑 Delete match or ↺ Reset fixture to not started. Which one you see depends on the match (see below).
  3. Read the warning, then tap Delete match or Reset fixture to confirm, or Keep to back out.

Which button appears:

  • 🗑 Delete match: for a match that hasn't been played, or a friendly that's live or finished in the last 30 minutes. It's good for test matches.
  • ↺ Reset fixture to not started: for a tournament fixture that's being played, or finished in the last 30 minutes. Fixtures can't be deleted, because that would leave a hole in the schedule or bracket.

Common questions

I don't see the Danger zone. Why?

Either you're not a host, or the window has closed. A finished match can only be deleted or reset for 30 minutes after its last scoring tap. After that, use Correct a finished match to fix mistakes.

Can I end the match during a break?

Yes. Use 🏁 End match… on the Scoring tab. See End a match early.
